What’s the difference between a “home inspection” and a “structural survey”?
There is no difference. Both terms mean the same thing. North American’s typically refer to it as a “home inspection” but if you’re British you’ll likely refer to them as “structural surveys”.
What is a Bermuda home inspection?
A home inspection performed by one of our registered structural engineers is an objective examination of the physical structure and systems of a house, from the roof to the foundation. We are specifically trained and certified as home inspectors. We know Bermuda home construction and what to look for.
Our written home inspection report covers the condition of the home’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems together with floors, walls, ceilings, basements, foundations and other structural components. We also cover windows, doors, stairs, landings, appliances, fire safety devices and ancillary structures such as garages, pools, decks and docks. It’s a top-to-bottom unbiased inspection of the whole house and grounds.

Bermuda’s homes are subject to some severe weathering from the elements and over time deferred maintenance and construction “short cuts” can add up to tens of thousands of dollars in repairs.

What specifically is covered in a Bermuda home inspection?
A standard Bermuda home inspection covers everything from the roof to the tank, including walls, floors, ceilings, fixtures and finishes. Electrical and plumbing systems and components.We also inspect the exterior grounds, retaining walls, pools, docks and garages.
Can a house fail a home inspection?
No. A professional home inspection is an examination of the current condition of a house. Our reports will not indicate a “pass” or “fail” grade but rather describes in detail the physical condition of the home and indicates what components and systems may need repair or upgrading soon. Code violations however may be pointed out if they constitute a significant threat to you or your family’s personal health and wellbeing.
How much does a home inspection cost and how long does it take?
We provide you with a fixed quote before scheduling the inspection and our base rate is calculated off of the total area of the home (including covered porches and garages). If you contact us with the property description found in the realtor’s listing advert we can typically email you a quote within a hour.
The site data collection (inspection) can take anywhere from 1-2 hrs depending upon the size of the home and complexity. We can deliver the written report in pdf format within 2 business days of the site visit.
